What is Helpling?

Helpling is the leading marketplace for cleaning services in the UK. We're not a cleaning agency or cleaning company. We're an intermediary platform that matches customers with self-employed cleaners. Through our platform, you can book a cleaner in only 60 seconds.

How does pricing work?

Fair pricing is very important to us. As all of the cleaners on our platform set their own customer price, you as a customer decide how much you want to pay for your clean. During the booking process, you can compare cleaner profiles and prices and find the right one for you. We will only match you with cleaners that fit your desired price range.

How do I prepare for the first clean?

Every customer is different and since it’s the cleaner’s first visit to your home, it’s good to provide some guidance. Ideally, write down a list of cleaning priorities for your cleaner (focusing on a specific room, for example). This will help them to tailor their work to you. When the cleaner arrives, show them around your home, highlighting your priorities or fragile areas. Make sure to also show the cleaner where to find the cleaning products to use – if you have any preferences or surfaces that need special care, discuss these quickly with your assigned cleaner.

Do I have to be home for the booking?

We strongly recommend that you are home at least for the first booking. Some customers choose to give a spare key to their cleaner, but please remember that Helpling takes no part in the key-handling process.

What cleaning supplies do I have to provide?

We recommend to have the following cleaning supplies at home:

  1. Vacuum cleaner and a mop
  2. Cleaning cloths x 4
  3. Feather duster
  4. Scratch-free sponge
  5. Toilet Cleaner
  6. Limescale remover
  7. All-Purpose cleaner
  8. Fat solvent

Further cleaning supplies are required for additional cleaning services, such as:

  1. Interior window cleaning: glass cleaner
  2. Oven cleaning: oven cleaner and sponge
What if I don't like my cleaner?

We do our best to find the right cleaner for you. However, if you did not like your cleaner, you can easily replace them in your account and send out a new request for another cleaner. We ask the reason for the cleaner replacement so we can then find the perfect match!

Are the cleaners insured in case of damages?

Yes, in the unlikely event of damage, you do not have to worry as you are protected from any serious harm. All cleaners are covered by a liability insurance which covers all damages up to EUR 5,000,000 with a deductible of EUR 500 (current exchange rate will be used to evaluate the amount in GBP). For damages below the deductible or the amount corresponding to the deductible of any larger damage, you can decide to directly reach out to the cleaner involved and align with them on the compensation that you may expect. You can find the cleaner's contact details in the confirmation email that you received prior to the cleaning.
